Privacy Policy
Trail Trip is an iOS app that organizes and presents outdoor workouts and routes on your device. We minimize data use, show no advertising, do not track you across apps, and do not sell personal information.
1. Scope and contact
This policy applies to the Trail Trip app, its iCloud sync feature, and this website's privacy, terms, and support pages. For privacy questions or data-rights requests, email support.trailtrip@yytech.ltd.
2. Data processed by the app
Apple Health data
With your explicit permission, Trail Trip reads hiking, walking, running, and cycling workouts from Apple Health, together with associated workout routes. This may include activity type, start and end times, duration, distance, active energy, elevation-ascent metadata, and route-point coordinates, altitude, timestamps, and accuracy.
- Use is limited to loading workouts, grouping trips, maps, statistics, elevation analysis, and exports or sharing you initiate.
- Trail Trip never writes, changes, or deletes Apple Health data.
- Health data is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data trading and is not sold to data brokers.
- GPS routes originating from Apple Health are not uploaded to iCloud, the developer's server, or this website.
Local app data
Trip names, notes, memberships, display preferences, map and poster settings, caches, and import records are stored on your device by default. Health route caches and derived map data may be removed by the app and rebuilt read-only from Apple Health.
Imports, sharing, and backups
GPX and Trail Trip files you import may contain timestamps, locations, elevation, activity details, and notes. They remain user assets on your device unless you enable iCloud sync, create a backup, or share them through the system share sheet. Manual backups can be password-encrypted. If you choose an unencrypted backup, routes and notes may remain readable in the file.
3. Optional iCloud sync
Trail Trip uses the Apple CloudKit private database to sync user assets only after you explicitly enable the feature in the app. You can pause sync at any time; pausing does not automatically delete local or cloud data.
The current sync scope includes:
- confirmed trip names, notes, memberships, and locked status;
- user preferences and poster presets;
- external workouts and routes that you imported; and
- minimal matching data used to reconnect workouts to Apple Health after moving devices: workout UUID, start and end times, duration, activity type, and distance.
Sensitive snapshot fields use CloudKit encrypted fields and are stored in the private database associated with your Apple Account. GPS routes, active energy, and elevation ascent originating from Apple Health are not uploaded as cloud route assets. CloudKit processing is also governed by Apple's privacy policy and service terms.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
Apple App Store and StoreKit process Trail Trip Pro product information, purchases, renewals, restoration, and refunds. The developer does not receive your full payment-card details. Apple may provide transaction status needed to verify your entitlement.
5. Support email and website logs
If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and any app version, sync state, and error summary you choose to include. The diagnostic summary is not intended to contain GPS coordinates or route payloads. Support messages are normally retained for up to 12 months after resolution, unless longer retention is needed for legal, security, or dispute purposes.
This website is served by a developer-controlled Nginx server. For security and troubleshooting, it may log an IP address, access time, request path, status code, referrer, and browser identifier. Logs are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking and are normally retained for no more than 30 days; records needed to investigate security incidents or meet legal obligations may be kept longer.
6. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell personal information. Data is handled by a recipient you choose, Apple, or an email provider only when you initiate sharing, enable iCloud sync, make an App Store purchase, or contact support. Apple MapKit may request map content under Apple's terms. Trail Trip does not provide Apple Health data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or analytics SDKs.
7. Retention, deletion, and controls
- Health permission: revoke Trail Trip's read access in iOS Settings or the Health app. Revocation does not delete data from Apple Health.
- Local data: delete external imports and related content in the app. Uninstalling normally removes the app container, but files you exported and system backups remain under your control.
- iCloud data: pause sync or use Delete Cloud Data in app settings. Merely disabling sync does not delete previously uploaded data.
- Exports and backups: delete copies from Files, cloud drives, email, or recipient devices.
- Support data: email us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you sent. We may need to verify the request against the relevant email account.
8. Security
We use platform sandboxing, system permissions, encrypted transport, CloudKit private databases, and least-privilege practices. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Use a strong password for backups containing sensitive routes and share them carefully.
9. Children and health disclaimer
Trail Trip is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information submitted directly to the developer by children. Trail Trip organizes and visualizes fitness records; it does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment advice, emergency assistance, or professional navigation.
10. Changes
If our data practices materially change, we will update the date on this page and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app or release notes. Please review the current policy before continuing to use the app.
